JOHN PALMBACH(CrossFit & Group Training)
Growing up I was always very active. As a child, my family spent nearly every weekend on the water where I learned and loved water sports. In my teenage years, my activity levels only increased with the demands of soccer, participation in marching band or just finding some activity to do with my friends. As I began to enter adulthood, my life took on the following familiar tale: a desk job with a seeming never ending supply of junk food that was constantly being offered up. Within a short amount of time the extra five pounds became ten and so on until I was 60 lbs overweight. Over the course of several years and even more fizzled attempts to get “in shape” at Globo-gyms, I was pretty bored and burned out from the ineffective cycle of trying to work out and seeing no results. The catalyst for change came when we started trying to conceive and my wife suggested that we start exercising and making healthier food choices to make the process easier and more enjoyable. We were admittedly a bit leery of trying CrossFit but since no other program had much success in the past, we thought we’d give it a try. It didn’t take long before we were hooked. I started losing weight and becoming more fit, but I wanted to take it to the next level. That’s when I really started focusing on my diet which led to me finally losing over 50 lbs. Six months later, I got my CrossFit Level One certification and started shadowing classes, soaking up as much knowledge as I could. Now I am coaching and continuing to learn and grow as an individual as well as a coach. I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to lead myself and others in the ability to achieve a happy, healthy lifestyle.
